This report outlines how we use our additional government sports funding.
At Beckfoot Heaton Primary, we believe that PE is a vital part of the curriculum, allowing children to experience new opportunities, build the basis of a life-long
Involvement with sport and achieve their maximum potential.
The Government provides an additional funding to schools each year to improve the provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. Schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport we offer.
There are four aspects to our Sports Premium strategy:
- Ensure the high quality teaching of PE – We do this through ongoing professional development and the quality assurance of PE teaching; maintenance of sufficient and appropriate PE equipment.
- Reduce obesity through activity – We do this providing active playtimes with a range of play equipment and active staff. This year a number of families are taking part in the HENRY Healthy Families Right From the Start programme.
- Increase out of school physical activity – We do this by providing after sport based school clubs and holiday programmes.
- Participate in competitive sport – We do this by preparing children for local sports tournaments. We use the Sports Premium to fund after school staffing, transport and administration of these events.
